Plan your coffee counter before choosing a machine
Map peak demand, counter space, water and grinding before deciding which espresso machine fits your routine.
Begin with the busiest period
A daily cup total does not tell the whole story. List drinks during your busiest period, the share of milk drinks and the number of operators. Two groups allow parallel brewing, but grinding, steaming, cup preparation and teamwork still affect output. Group count alone cannot guarantee a fixed capacity.
Make room for the whole setup
Measure usable counter width and depth, allowing access for filling, cleaning and service. Include the grinder, knock box, pitchers, cups and working space. Sketch the sequence from grinding to brewing, steaming, serving and cleaning to find unnecessary movement or equipment that blocks another task.
Confirm installation requirements
Check the chosen model’s power supply, rated power, water connection and drainage. For a mobile setup, confirm that electricity and water remain suitable throughout service. Do not assume a standard socket or temporary water container suits every commercial machine. Confirm dimensions and installation details against the model’s own documentation.
Include the grinder in your decision
Whole beans require a separate espresso-capable grinder if the machine does not grind internally. Consider adjustment, peak workload and cleaning. Share your menu and counter constraints with the equipment supplier, then compare documented specifications to choose a complete setup.
